Kathryn Sayles, "Kathy", of Farmington Hills, age 83, passed away peacefully, on January 16, 2025.

Kathy was born October 30th, 1941, in Cumberland, Maryland, the daughter of Regina and George Arns. She moved to Michigan when her father began as a salesman for Wheeling Steel in this area.

Kathy was a devoted member of Trinity Episcopal Church and later Nardin Park United Methodist Church. She dedicated 45 years of her life to nursing, beginning her career in the emergency room, serving as a nighttime RN and nurse director at Ardmore Psychiatric Hospital for the majority of her career, and dedicating her love for others and skills as an RN to patients facing the end of their lives.  Her friends, family, and everyone she met would describe her as beautiful, kind, caring, intelligent, funny, generous, and loving.

Kathy and her late husband, Thomas "Tom" Sayles, Sr., were married for 57 years and lived in Farmington Hills where they raised two sons who both went on to college and successful careers, Tom, an electrical engineer, and Dennis an educator. Kathy and Tom, Sr.'s favorite pastime was gardening and managing their two acres of wooded property, with its winding stream, and extensive, beautiful gardens.

Mrs. Sayles is survived by her loving sons Tom (Shannon) Sayles, II and Dennis Sayles; grandsons Jacob and Luke Sayles; sister Mary Ann Butka, and is preceded in death by her parents, George & Gene Arns.

Family and friends are encouraged to gather for a memorial service honoring Kathy's life at Trinity Episcopal Church, 26880 La Muera St. in Farmington Hills, on Saturday, February 8th, at 11:00 am.

Kathy will be interred at Great Lakes National Cemetery, in Holly, MI, where she will be laid to rest with her late husband, Tom. The burial will take place privately with her family.
