Obituary

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes are kindly suggested to Angela Hospice or the Capuchin Soup Kitchen .

Kathy, a loving and faithful wife, sister, dedicated nurse, and cherished friend, entered eternal life on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Angela Hospice, Livonia, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and unwavering faith. Born in 1948, Kathy began her life's journey in a small apartment in River Rouge. As her family grew, they moved to Allen Park, where she spent her formative years.

In 1968, Kathy answered the call to serve her country by joining the Navy. She completed her nursing degree in 1970 and was stationed on Long Island, providing care to the brave men and women returning from the Vietnam War. Her dedication and service were recognized with an honorable discharge in 1973, after which she began her nursing career at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.

Kathy's pursuit of excellence in her field led her to the University of Michigan, where she earned her MSN and Clinical Nurse Specialist degrees. She served in critical care and coronary care medicine and was also involved in the continuing education of doctors and fellow nurses.  Moreover, Kathy was an integral part of the team that designed Beaumont's first electronic record-keeping system, focusing on the nursing care screens of the patient's medical record. Her innovative work in this area culminated in her leadership of the IT department, where she made significant contributions as Associate Director of IT until her retirement at the age of 59.

Kathy continued to serve her community by working in the front office of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Community in Farmington, where she was the editor of their parish bulletin, was in the Bell Choir and served as an Eucharistic Minister Her dedication extended to her family, as she lovingly cared for her mother-in-law and her own mother during their final years, even as she faced her own battle with cancer.

Described by those who knew her as a loving and faithful wife, Kathy's strong Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was self-sacrificing, always putting others first, and her humble, kind, and caring nature made her a compassionate caregiver. Her joyous spirit, great sense of humor, and ability to make others laugh brought light to every gathering.

Kathy was known for her hospitality, often hosting family get-togethers at her home with her beloved husband, Frank. Efficient, dependable, and reliable, she had a tendency to be bossy and in charge, and her family loved her all the more for it.

Kathy leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

Kathy is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, Frank; siblings, Michael (Tara) Tisot, Tony (Faye) Tisot, Pat (Deb) Tisot, Sr. Jeanine Tisot, RSM, Ann Marie (Rod) Mann and Mark (Gina) Tisot; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may gather for visitation at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, downtown Farmington, on Wednesday, July 31, from 2-8 pm, with 7 pm prayers and remembrances.

Kathy's funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, August 1, 11 am (in state 10 am), at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 21300 Farmington Rd., Farmington.  Reverend Mark Brauer, Kathy's friend, will celebrate mass.

Entombment in the Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum, Southfield.
