Obituary

Loving grandmother, mother, sister & friend, Kathleen Egbers, passed away peacefully at her home in Farmington Hills, MI on April 23rd at the age of 68.  Kathleen is survived by her four brothers and sisters Roy, Pam, Lynda and Billy; mother Marilyn; sons Mathew (Courtney) and Robert (Bridget); and three grandchildren Annie, Everett and Maura.

Known as Kath to her friends & family, or Nana to her grandchildren, she lived every day of her life for her faith, family and friends.

She was the oldest of five children born to Marilyn & William Nagle in Lowell, MA.  From a young age, she embraced the role of caretaker, helping to raise her brothers and sisters.  If there was any time left over after school, she would go to her local Girl's Club, where she enjoyed playing with friends and making clay piglets.

As she grew up, she chose to study Biology at Lowell Technological Institute, where she would meet her husband and be the first in her family to graduate from college.  Afterwards, she didn't waste any time starting her chosen career of building a family.  She poured her heart and soul into raising her two sons, Robert & Matthew, whose successes continued to give her immense satisfaction for the rest of her life.

Kath continued in her role as a caretaker, even after her children left the house, tending to multiple family members and friends.  At the same time, she continued in her spiritual development at St. Gerald's parish, where she had been a member since 1985.  She taught grade-school catechism classes, ran an adult bible study for decades and was a member of a number of other bible study groups.

She lived a life of faith, committed to uplifting those around her in every way.  She always chose people over things, and would be happy to give someone whatever they needed.  She loved the simple sunset, lunch with her friends, cuddling her cat, an evening boat ride, or a Meadowlands maple walnut ice cream cone.

She was unable to utter an unkind word, liked by everyone she met, best friend to all of her friends, and loved by her entire family.  Her presence is deeply missed.
