Karen Julie
Wilk
Oct 9, 1955 — Dec 31, 2023
Farmington Hills
Karen J. Wilk, of Farmington Hills, age 68, a cherished wife, devoted mother, and adored grandma passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday morning, December 31, 2023, following a courageous battle with ALS. Saying Karen lost her battle with ALS would be inaccurate because she never stopped fighting. Please consider donating to ALS of Michigan, 24359 Northwestern HWY, #100, Southfield, MI, 48075, to honor and celebrate her life.
Karen was born in Detroit, on October 9th, 1955, to the late Walter and Stella (Michalowski) Dazbaz. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother, Victor Dazbaz. Karen married Martin G. Wilk on April 30, 1976, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Redford, and together enjoyed over 47 years of marriage.
Nothing brought more Joy to Karen than spending time with her family, her three kids and spouses, and especially her seven grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. Born with a gift for one-liners and ice-breakers, she sprinkled humor and warmth wherever she went, lighting up the room with her quick wit and charm.
Karen was her family's biggest cheerleader, never missing a game, even in the face of illness. Determined to support them as long as she could, she even watched from her car, ensuring her presence was felt despite the circumstances. Her dedication extended beyond the sidelines; she played catch in the house, creating cherished memories with her grandkids.
Northern Michigan held a special place in her heart as it became a backdrop for countless family gatherings filled with laughter and joy. The casinos held their allure, especially when it came to playing Keno, a pastime she relished. Her pride in her grandchildren attending Catholic School reflected her commitment to her Catholic faith, which she held dear and embraced with tradition and reverence.
Family dinners were sacred to Karen, celebrating her Polish heritage with love-infused dishes and stories passed down through generations. Her home was the epicenter of festive celebrations, radiating warmth and nostalgia during holidays, where all were welcomed with open arms.
Karen leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering support for her family. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her spirit will continue to live on in the countless hearts she touched. She will be remembered for her quick wit, boundless love, and the peaceful joy she leaves behind.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Marty; sisters, Ann Marie (Jim) Brumm and Kathy (Ron) Dombrowski; sons, Marty (Ericha) Wilk and Michael (Jenna) Wilk; her daughter, Kristen (Michael) Walsh; grandchildren, Wyatt Wilk, Estelle Wilk, Casey Wilk, Carson Wilk, Dylan Wilk, Cameron Walsh, and Max Walsh; caring sisters-in-law, Maureen "Cookie" Wilk and Dr. Patricia "Patsy" Boyle; and her brother-in-law, Barry Wilk.
