Obituary

Judith Catherine "Judy" Frazier, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, at the age of 76.

Born on December 1, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, Judy spent most of her life in Hazel Park, where she built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was devoted to her family and found her greatest happiness in spending time with those she loved.

Judy dedicated many years of her career with the Hazel Park School district. She started in the lunch room and worked her way up to secretary at the JR High and Breakfast Club, where she touched the lives of countless students, families, and colleagues through her kindness, dedication, and compassionate spirit.

Outside of work, Judy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved sewing, tending to her flower beds, shopping for those she loved (and herself), getting lost in a good book, playing poker, shooting dice, challenging herself with puzzles and later in life realized she enjoyed camping. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was never afraid to keep everyone in line with one of her favorite sayings: "You're cruisin' for a bruisin'." It became a phrase her family will always remember with a smile.

Above all else, Judy's greatest accomplishment was the family she loved so deeply. She is survived by her devoted husband, Donald Frazier; her loving daughter, Shannon Kania; her step children Donald (Tina) Frazier, Jr., Kimberly (William, III) Burnett; her cherished grandchildren, Kayla Kania, Kaden Ferstle, Taylor Frazier, Katelyn Frazier, William Burnett, IV; and her precious great-grandchildren, Jordan Gentry and Journey Gentry; her loving sister Patricia (Ronald) Vestevich, Becky Herrin; Her sister in law Nancy Herran, brother in law John Lang; her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews who loving call her Aunt Hatchet. Judy was preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph Kania; her daughter Barbara Jean; her siblings Jimmy Herran and  Nancy "Lulu" Lang. Her love, guidance, and unwavering support created a legacy that will continue through generations.

Judy will forever be remembered for her caring heart, her strength, her generosity, and the way she always made those around her feel loved. Though her presence will be deeply missed, the memories she created, the lessons she shared, and the love she gave so freely will remain forever in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that while she may no longer walk beside them, her love will continue to guide them every day. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, resilience, and unconditional love that will never be forgotten.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our Hearts.

The Frazier family will receive guests Wednesday, August 5, 2-8 pm at the funeral home, where a funeral service will be held Thursday, August 6, 11 am.

Immediately following her service, a funeral procession will take her to her place of rest, Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens.  All are invited to join the procession to the cemetery.
