Joseph
Busovicki
Jun 22, 1942 — Feb 5, 2025
Farmington Hills
Joseph Busovicki, a kind, humble, and generous man, went to be with the Lord on February 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 22, 1942, in Clymer, Pennsylvania, Joseph was the son of the late John and Blanche (Cernik) Busovicki. Growing up with humble beginnings, he formed many cherished memories alongside his seven siblings and numerous cousins. From an early age, he learned the value of hard work, taking on jobs such as cutting grass, digging graves for the church, and spending a summer picking tobacco in Massachusetts. Upon graduating high school, he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served as an E5 sergeant, trained in heavy machinery mechanics, and worked on roads in Korea during the early 1960s.
After returning home, Joseph moved to Cleveland, Ohio, to live with his uncle and begin a career that spanned 44 and a ½ years at DuPont/Zaclon Inc. During those early years, he had a passion for drag racing, with his prized forest green Cobra holding a special place in his heart.
It was in Cleveland that Joseph met the love of his life, Patricia. Fate brought them together when she moved into the third floor of his apartment building. In his signature thoughtful way, he surprised her by hiding her engagement ring in the coffee grounds one morning. She said yes, and together they built a beautiful life.
Joseph and Patricia made their home in Westlake, Ohio, where they raised their two children, Barb and Mike. Their summers were filled with treasured outings to the family cottage on Johnson's Island. A devoted and protective father, Joseph took immense pride in providing for his family. He also loved returning to Pennsylvania to visit his beloved family and the annual clam bakes with the Schuler family, a tradition that continued up to Michigan once the kids moved there. His passion for cars never faded, and he looked forward each year to visiting Michigan for the Woodward Dream Cruise with Mike and Jenn.
In time, Joseph became a grandfather, a role that brought out a newfound lightness and playfulness. Whether building playhouses in the basement, constructing snow forts in the front yard, or being the reigning trivia champion at family game nights, he relished every moment spent with his grandchildren, which included their special annual trip to go apple picking in the fall.
Later in life, Joseph and Patricia moved to Michigan to be closer to their children and grandchildren. The past five years were a true gift, filled with memories and love that will be cherished forever.
Joseph is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia; his beloved children, Barbara (Brandon) Kaufman and Michael (Jennifer Zoltowski) Busovicki; his adored grandchildren, Benjamin, Bradley, and Blake Kaufman; and his siblings, John (Rose Ann), Frank (Fran), George (Elayne), Helen (late Joseph) DiFalco, Marge (Jim) Kubalic, and Bunny Busovicki. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Busovicki.
A memorial gathering will take place on Thursday, February 13, from 3 – 7pm, at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 14, at 11:30 am, with visitation beginning at 10 am, also at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to The School Sisters of St. Francis, 4900 Perry Highway, Ste. 201, Pittsburgh, PA 15229, or a charity of the donor's choice.
Joseph's legacy of kindness, hard work, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. To my beloved Patricia, "My love, our time together was the greatest gift of my life. Though I have gone ahead, I will wait for you, just as I always have, until we are together again."
Please keep Joseph and his family in your thoughts and prayer during this difficult time.
