This tribute to John was written by his son, David, in honor of his father.

John Joseph Mirling was born in Detroit June 16, 1944, and died September 21, 2024.

John was married to Cheryl Ann Mirling and had a daughter, Christine Lee and a son, David John.  Following her passing in 1968, John joined the Jokers Motorcycle Club to have the needed support after being a widower with 2 young kids. During this time, John's mother and father helped in caring for the kids. In 1975, he met the love of his life, hair stylist Filomena (Phyllis).  Remarrying in 1977, their wedding was very large at 750 people. John built a colonial homestead on 4 acres with a pond in Hartland. John's career focused in Metro Detroit, and Farmington Hills was his home for the past 40 years. John had a great life until his lungs became too weak to work, and hospital care was needed for the remaining 9 months of his life.

John is survived by his wife Filomena, his sister Carolyn, daughter Christine Malone, sons David and Joseph, grandchildren Addison, Abby, Hailey (Joe) Ruiz Mirling, Molly Jenkins, Melodey (Chris) Falin, and great-grandchildren Bailey, Khloe, Lucia and Silas.

A burial is planned for a future date.
