James W. Okerstrom, "Jim", age 74, of Grand Blanc, passed away peacefully at home, Friday, July 17, 2026.

Jim was born in Detroit, MI, November 11, 1951, the son of the late Mamie and Wilfred Okerstrom.

Jim loved camping and traveling with his family, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing whether on trips or close to home. He liked to get out and ride his motorcycle, played hockey and golf, and was an avid Detroit Red Wings fan. A handy do‑it‑yourselfer, Jim enjoyed building and improving his home—decks and other projects were often completed with his own hands. He also treasured time spent playing Euchre with family and friends and relaxing while watching Westerns.

Jim will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

Jim is the loving husband of Pat for 44 years; beloved father of Amanda Klein (Bradley), Justin Okerstrom (Ariana) and father-in-law of Joe Lavigne; cherished grandfather of Jordan (fiancé Dylan), Luke, Lauren, Levi and Ellie and great grandfather of Charlie. Sadly, Jim is preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Lavigne and brother Ron Okerstrom (the late Bryna).

The Okerstrom family will receive guests Thursday, July 23, 4-8 pm at the funeral home, where a funeral service will be held Friday, July 24, 11 am.

Immediately following the service, all guests are invited to join a funeral procession that will take Jim to his final place of rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia.
