Obituary

Jack Clark Canon, Jr., of Canton, passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by his beloved family, on November 8, 2024, at Trinity Health Livonia Hospital. He was 61 years old.

Jack was born in Detroit on November 22, 1962, to the late Jack Sr. and Beverly (Bennett) Canon, and raised with the warmth and values that defined his life. He graduated from Linden High School and pursued his passion for mechanics at Ferris State University, where he studied Heavy Equipment Maintenance. However, with his natural charisma and undeniable "gift of gab," Jack soon found his true calling in sales, a career he embraced wholeheartedly.

As his career evolved to its later years, Jack transitioned to a role that brought him immense fulfillment: driving a school bus for Plymouth Canton Schools, specifically for children with special needs. His connection with his students was profound and genuine, and he cherished each small token of affection they shared, whether it was a picture from art class or a handmade gift. His compassion and warmth left a lasting impression on every child he transported, and he retired with a deep sense of pride in his work.

Jack had a love for the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. Family trips provided him with the perfect opportunity to share his passion, and he delighted in teaching his great-nieces and nephews the joys of fishing, creating cherished memories and passing on a beloved family tradition.

Jack is survived by his devoted wife, Cynthia Canon (née Cromwell); his two sons, Christopher and William; and his sisters, Shelley Menosky (David) and Tresa Boldt (Jim). He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Canon Sr. and Beverly (née Bennett), and his sister, Maricia Lynn Canon.

Family and friends may gather for visitation at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in downtown Farmington on Thursday, November 14, from 3-7 p.m.

Jack's funeral ceremony is planned for Friday morning, November 15, at 11:00 a.m., also at Heeney-Sundquist.  Jack's brother-in-law, the Reverend Donald Treglown, will preside.

Jack's warmth, wit, and kindness will be remembered and missed by all who knew him, from family and friends to the many students and colleagues whose lives he touched. His legacy of kindness and joy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.

I remember,

A chance meeting at a dance

Curly hair, a goofy smile

Children for me to love

A Beautiful ring and "will you marry me"

Classic video games and scary movies

Dancing together and laughing until we cry

A little Boo and precious Annie

Fishing lures and hot sauce

Abundance of love and the gift of gab

A Good Man with Unwavering Faith

Three kisses to say goodnight, too soon

I remember Jack, my heart.
