Ida Sue
Murphy
Apr 13, 1944 — Nov 19, 2024
Farmington Hills
Ida Sue Murphy, age 80, of Farmington Hills, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Ascension Providence Hospital, Novi Campus, surrounded by her family. She was a woman whose heart was as boundless as her love for those around her.
Ida Sue was born in Chattooga, GA, on April 13, 1944, the daughter of the late Tomiline and Lee Pope.
Ida Sue's greatest gift was the remarkable depth of her compassion. To those who knew her, she was a rock, a source of strength and unwavering care. She dedicated herself tirelessly to her family, especially in her role as the devoted caretaker of her beloved daughter, Jen. Through every trial and triumph, Ida Sue's resilience, grace, and love were constant, providing a foundation for those she held dear to stand upon. Her ability to care for those she loved—without hesitation, without expectation—was nothing short of extraordinary.
Beyond her immediate family, Ida Sue had a heart that knew no boundaries. She extended that same love and affection to an extended circle of friends, family friends, and her cherished "Tupperware family," many of whom she worked with over a storied, 40-year career. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her genuine love for the people she met along the way, whether as clients, colleagues, or lifelong friends. Her kindness and infectious spirit left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
Ida Sue was not just a mother, wife, or friend—she was a beacon of love and support. Her ability to make each person feel special, valued, and cared for was unparalleled. In a world that often feels fractured, Ida Sue brought people together, creating a community where no one ever felt alone.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will continue to inspire those she left behind. She will be missed more than words can express, but she will never be forgotten.
Ida Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband, William and her cherished daughter, Rebekah. She is the loving mother of Tim and Jennifer; dearest sister of Thomas L. Pope (Norma) and Ronald B. Pope (Teresa); and fondest aunt of Michelle, Crystal and Melissa.
The Murphy family will receive guests at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon, November 24, from 2-6 pm.
A funeral service celebrating Ida Sue's life is scheduled for Monday morning, November 25, 11 am, also at Heeney-Sundquist.
Ida Sue will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI, next to her husband, William.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society in her name.
Please keep the Murphy family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
