Obituary

Ibtesam Ziadeh passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, surrounded by her family at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital. She was 86 years old.

Ibtesam was born on January 30, 1940, and lived a life marked by kindness, love, sacrifice, and deep devotion to her family. From a young age, she carried a strong sense of responsibility and a generous heart. She worked as a schoolteacher and administrator at Aleppo College, where she was respected for her dedication and care.

At the age of 23, Ibtesam married her beloved husband, the late Makhoul Boutros, who also served as a principal and teacher at Aleppo College. Together, they were blessed with a loving family and built a life centered on faith, hard work, and devotion to one another.

Ibtesam was the loving mother of three children: Ubada, Suheil, and Kinda. She lived a simple life, but one rich in love and selfless care. Her greatest priority was always to make sure her husband and children were provided for. After a full day of work, she would return home to cook, clean, and care for her family, sometimes by candlelight when there was no electricity. Though life was often difficult, Ibtesam met each challenge with strength, patience, and unwavering love.

Following the death of her husband and during unsettling times in Syria, Ibtesam moved to Dubai, where she lived with her daughter, Kinda, for five years. She later moved with her family to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where she lived for the past ten years, surrounded by the love and care of her family.

Ibtesam is survived by her devoted children, Ubada and his wife, Zena, Abdo; Suheil and his wife, Gada, Boutros; and Kinda and her husband, Andre, Atieh. She was the cherished grandmother of Michael, Mario, and Mark Boutros; Andre and Sabine Boutros; and Michel and Roy Atieh. She is also survived by her brother, Elias.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Makhoul Boutros; her brothers, Hanna and Nickola; and her sister, Linda.
