Henri, of Bloomfield Hills, a kind, generous, and faithful soul, passed into eternal life early Sunday morning, August 4, 2024. He was 90 years old.

Born on August 29, 1933, in Lebanon, Henri was the beloved son of the late Lahoud and Amy (Latouf) Romain. At the age of 17, Henri immigrated to the United States, bringing with him a mischievous spirit and the role of "leader of his pack."

Henri was a certified gemologist with a passion for designing jewelry. He began his career working for his uncle, a jewelry maker, and his expertise flourished in the jewelry departments at Hudson's, Charles Warren Jewelers, and Nieman Marcus. Well into his 80's, Henri continued to serve his clientele with personal attention from his home. Known for his phenomenal salesmanship, Henri always knew what was best for his customers and empowered them with his knowledge and insight.

A man of strong Catholic faith, Henri was dedicated to making others laugh and putting those around him at ease. His lighthearted nature and genuine kindness left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He was especially devoted to his family, with a special fondness for his nieces and nephews.

Henri was gifted in writing poetry and enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including golf, music, crossword and sudoku puzzles, and dining out. A big fan of Detroit sports, he loved watching games and enjoying simple pleasures like peanuts. Henri's life was marked by simplicity and humility, never extravagant but always meaningful.

Henri's legacy of kindness, generosity, and faith will forever be remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His warm smile, gentle humor, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones will be deeply missed.

Henri is survived by his loving partner, Vikki; his sister, Najla Romain; nieces and nephews, Tia (Larry) Flory, Rob (Loretta) Romain, Eric Romain, and Jennifer Romain; and great-nieces and nephews, Brittany, Matthew and Kayla Flory, Joe, Marcus and Niklas Romain, and Taylor, Mackenzie and Gunnar Lombard.  He was preceded in death by siblings, Odette Romain, Joe (Eva) Romain, Claude (Myrna) Romain, and Marie Romain.

Henri's funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday morning, August 14, at 10:30 am (in state 10:00 am) at Christ, Our Light! Catholic Church, 3077 Glouchester Dr., Troy.  Private interment will take place later that afternoon at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are kindly suggested to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen or the Detroit Symphony Orchestra .
