Harry Semerjian, a beloved father and cherished member of the Farmington Hills community, passed into eternal life on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on August 8, 1933, in Highland Park, Michigan, he was the son of the late Arshag and Grace (Kalargian). His life was a remarkable reflection of intellect, commitment, and resilience.
On October 13, 1962, Harry married the love of his life, Patricia, at St. Coleman Catholic Church in Detroit. Their nearly six-decade love story concluded with Pat's passing on August 5, 2020. Together, they built a strong family rooted in love, respect, and a shared commitment to lifelong learning.
Harry's remarkable intellect propelled him into a successful engineering career that began at Bell Labs and culminated in his role as Vice President at Ameritech. He was particularly proud of his contributions to various projects, including a notable military initiative. Driven by curiosity and a passion for knowledge, Harry became an avid speed reader, effortlessly engaging in conversations and contributing valuable insights on a wide range of topics.
Though often quiet and solitary, Harry's wisdom and warmth shone through during cherished moments spent with family and friends. He valued these gatherings and found joy in simple pleasures, such as walking to explore the world around him.
Harry's legacy will live on through his devoted daughter, Caroline (Jacquelyn) Semerjian, as well as his nephew John, niece Susan, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, and his brother, George (Rosemary), in 2019.
Family and friends may gather for visitation at Heeney-Sundquist on Tuesday, October 22, from 4-8 PM. Harry's funeral ceremony is planned for Wednesday morning, October 23, at 11:00 AM, also at Heeney-Sundquist. Private interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Farmington Community Library .
His life, marked by brilliance, independence, and unwavering determination, is a legacy that will forever inspire.
A Celebration of Life is planned to further honor the lives of Harry and Pat on Wednesday evening, October 23rd, at 6:00 pm, at Cowley's Restaurant in downtown Farmington. Kindly respond to Caroline if you are able to attend.
