Obituary

"Jerry", died peacefully with his wife of nearly 59 years, Elizabeth "Kip" Voss, by his side on September 9, 2022, at the age of 91. Jerry was a devoted, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to so many; he will be sorely missed.

He is survived by his wife, Kip; three children, David (Lisa) Daniel (Kim d.), and Anne (Ray); his sister, Virginia; three grandchildren, Grace, Dante, and Matt; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry had a long and fulfilling life. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on April 20, 1931, as the second son of Glen and Pauline Voss. He served with distinction in the U.S. Navy following high school, reaching the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He then graduated from Iowa State College, now Iowa State University. Jerry was a devoted Cyclone (but was eventually persuaded to become a dedicated University of Michigan fan also), and graduated with an Industrial Engineering degree. This degree took him to Dearborn, Michigan, and a position with Ford's Rouge Steel Co., where he worked for nearly 30 years, retiring as a manager of Finishing Technology. He married the love of his life, Kip, in 1963. During their nearly 59 years of marriage, Jerry and Kip loved to travel—whether by car, plane, tour bus, or cruise ship—visiting numerous destinations around the world.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Janice and Nancy, and his older brother, Glen.

Visitation will be Friday, September 16, from 3 to 8 pm at the Heeney - Sundquist Funeral Home, 23720 Farmington Rd., downtown Farmington.

Services will be held at the Church of the Holy Cross, 40700 10 Mile Rd. in Novi, Michigan on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 11 am. A private military burial will be held the following Monday at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry's memory can be given to the Church of the Holy Cross in Novi, the Salvation Army, or Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.
