Gerald passed peacefully after a short illness on June 17, 2023.
He is survived by his wife Carol (Beslock) Crossmyer whom he re-met at their 50th high school reunion and was happily married to for 16 years. He is also survived by his daughter Barbra (Crossmyer) Reis and her husband Brian Reis.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Clixby) Crossmyer, his brother Elmer Crossmyer, and his sisters, Clara Crossmyer and Margaret Thoma.
Gerald Richard Crossmyer was born August 12, 1936 in Detroit, MI. He graduated from Mackenzie High School in 1954 and served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1959. He worked for a short time at Hudson's Department store, then got a job at Ford Motor Company where he started as a Foreman at the Wixom Plant overseeing the production of Ford Thunderbirds. During his employment he received a Bachelor's degree from Wayne State University, majoring in English and Finance. He worked his way thru the Ford Accounting Department and when he retired after 42 years, he was a Financial Analyst in the Comptroller's office at Visteon.
Gerald was very active in the Knights of Columbus, holding office as the Grand Knight of the St. Francis Council for several years. He also had a love of music and during his younger years, could be found in his office listing to all kinds of rock and roll music.
Donations in lieu of flowers to the Solanus Casey Center in Detroit and the Folds of Honor organization.
Friends and family may gather at Heeney-Sundquist for visitation on Thursday, June 22, from 4-8 pm. The St. Francis Council Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 7pm.
Gerald's funeral mass will be celebrated Friday morning, June 23, at 9:30 am (in state 9:00 am) at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23615 Power Rd., Farmington.
