George Jackson Roberts III, "Buddy", age 40, of Livonia Michigan, passed away surrounded by friends and family, on Tuesday, February 7, 2023.
He was born in Stuttgart, West Germany January 15, 1983 at The 5 th General US Army Hospital, the son of April E. and George J. Roberts Jr.
Buddy worked as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer with the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the Cleveland, Ohio office. As a federal officer, Buddy served as both a Firearms and Defensive Tactics Instructor.
His career began when he enlisted in the US Army in July 2001. He was Airborne Infantry and served honorably in both Afghanistan and Iraq with the 82 nd Airborne Division. After his military service, Buddy began his Federal Service which continued until his passing.
Buddy was a graduate of Clarenceville High School in Livonia, MI where he excelled in several sports and earned his varsity letter in football. Buddy was unique in that most of the friends he made at an early age are still his friends today. His fierce loyalty to his friends includes his brother officers and family.
Buddy is survived by his father, George Roberts Jr., mother April Hartt, brothers David A. Roberts and Josh Hartt, daughter Samantha Roberts, nieces Ava and Ella and longtime companion Tabitha Sparks and her son Brady. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers, and friends.
Sadly, Buddy is preceded in death by his stepmother, Evelyn Roberts, grandparents, Lavonne and George Roberts, Sr. and Angie and Paul Hartt, and Aunt, Laura Roberts.
The Roberts family will greet guests at the funeral home Friday, February, 17 th , 4pm – 8pm and Saturday 3-4. A funeral service celebrating Buddy's life will be Saturday, February 18, 4pm.
Buddy will be laid to rest on Tuesday, February 21, 1:30 pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI, with full military honors.
There will be a prior visitation on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 3pm – 7pm at
Berry-McGreevey & Donald Martens and Sons Funeral Home, 26691 Detroit Rd., Westlake, Ohio 44145.
