Genevieve D.
Browne
Oct 21, 1926 — Sep 13, 2022
Genevieve, of Warren, formerly of Detroit and Farmington Hills, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, entered eternal life surrounded by family on Tuesday morning, September 13, 2022. She was 95 years old.
Genevieve was born October 21, 1926, in Delray, Michigan, to the late Raymond and Mary (Senick) Mihelcic. She married Raymond N. Browne at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Detroit on September 4, 1948. Sadly, Raymond preceded her in death on March 17, 1984.
Our mother was a wonderful woman who created a home environment that nurtured, encouraged & helped her children & grandchildren to thrive & succeed in life. She was compassionate, generous & above all, kind. She was the heart & soul of our family. Her family, friends & faith were extremely important to her. She especially enjoyed traveling & spending quality time with her loved ones.
Mom's courage & bravery, which she displayed all her life, served as an inspiration to her family & others. This was never more apparent than in March 1984. She suffered the death of her husband & later that year, she endured the death of her father. This happened during a time when she was preparing to move from the home where she raised her family & lived for the past 34 years. While others might have given up, she continued to persevere!
She will always live on in our hearts & our love will be with her forever!
Surviving are three devoted sons, Michael T. (the late Jean) Browne, Patrick T. (Denise) Browne, and Monsignor Ronald T. Browne; four cherished grandchildren, Stephen (Janie) Browne, Patrick S. (Debra) Browne, Timothy (Trish Sova) Browne, and Julie Browne; and a treasured great-grandson, Donovan Browne. In addition to her husband and parents, Genevieve was preceded in death by siblings, Clem (Jean) Mihelcic and Geraldine (the late William) Powell.
In lieu of flowers, Genevieve's family invite those who wish to honor her memory to consider a contribution to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Capuchin Soup Kitchen .
The Browne family will receive guests at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, downtown Farmington, on Monday and Tuesday, September 19 and 20, from 2-8 pm. The rosary will be prayed Monday evening at 7 pm, and a Scripture Service is planned for Tuesday evening at 7 pm.
Genevieve's funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday morning, September 21, at 11:00 am (in state 10:00 am) at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church, 32340 Pierce Street, Beverly Hills.
Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
Kindly keep Genevieve and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
O Gentlest Heart of Jesus
Ever present in the Blessed Sacrament,
ever consumed with burning love
for the poor captive souls in purgatory,
have mercy on the soul of Thy departed servant.
Be not severe in Thy judgment, but let some drops of precious blood
fall upon the devouring flames and do thou, O merciful savior,
send thy angels to conduct thy departed servant
to place of refreshment, light and peace.
Eternal rest grant unto them of Lord!
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
~Amen
