Frederick Robert Blackmer, age 63, of Redford, Michigan passed away Monday, July 22, 2024.

Fred was born September 18, 1960, in Detroit, the son of William and Roxanne (Burroughs) Blackmer. He graduated from Harrison High School in 1978 lending his athletic prowess to the wrestling, football and baseball teams. Fred met the love of his life in 1989 and married Roberta Anne Hanick on September 4, 1993.  He was an Iron Worker with Local 25 in Novi.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Roberta; son, Austin (Katie Summers) and daughter, Olivia Blackmer; father, William Blackmer (the late Roxanne); siblings, William (Julie) Blackmer, David (Stephanie Mannes) Blackmer and Barbara (Matt) Held; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his mother, Fred was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Blackmer.

He found joy in the littlest things. An avid fisherman and devoted father to his children. Known for his outgoing spirit, gregarious laugh, and overwhelming kindness. Fred greeted strangers as long-lost friends and was humbly always "glad you got to see him".

The Blackmer family will receive guests on Monday, July 29, 5-9 pm, at the Heeney Sundquist funeral home in Farmington, MI,

A funeral service is planned for Tuesday, July 30, 11 am, also at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
