Franklin T.
Wildasin
May 28, 1933 — Apr 3, 2025
Novi
Franklin Tecumseh Wildasin, "Frank," passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born in Evanston, IL, on May 28, 1933, Frank was the son of the late Miriam and Sherman Wildasin. He spent his childhood in Pennsylvania, developing a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for family.
At the age of 18, Frank answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the Air Force. A proud veteran of the Korean War, he honed his skills working diligently on aircraft, a foundation that would influence his career path.
Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Joyce. He is survived by his loving children, Pamela Tyler (Mark) and Mark Wildasin (Cynthia); and his cherished grandchildren, Joseph Tyler (Fiancée Jasmyn), Matthew Tyler (Riley) and Caroline Wildasin.
After his honorable service, Frank brought his expertise to Detroit, embarking on a 15-year career with General Motors. He primarily worked at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, MI, utilizing his aircraft knowledge. He then transitioned to Eaton Corporation, where he dedicated 31 years as a technician in research and development. Notably, he contributed to early advancements in airbag technology for automobiles.
Frank embraced retirement for 30 fulfilling years. His passion for history and mechanics led him to volunteer at the Henry Ford Museum, where he assisted the head photographer and further cultivated his love for the art. Photography was more than a hobby for Frank; it was a way to capture life's precious moments. He meticulously documented family vacations, holidays, and even worked weddings to provide for his family, developing his own photos in a darkroom he created at home. His commitment to service extended to the Yankee Air Museum in Ypsilanti, where he lovingly restored and maintained the same aircraft he had worked on during his Air Force years.
Frank, Joyce, and their children created countless cherished memories traveling across the United States. Among their adventures, the annual trip to Ludington held a special place in their hearts.
Frank was preceded in death by his siblings, Sherman, Todd, William, Sandra and Diane.
The Wildasin family will receive guests on Sunday, April 27, 2 PM to 5 PM at the funeral home.
Frank will be laid to rest next to his beloved Joyce at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly on Monday, April 28th, at 11:00 AM. The Air Force Honor Guard will perform honors as part of the service, a fitting tribute to his dedication and sacrifice.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Please keep the Wildasin family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
