Francesca, of Farmington Hills, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 101, surrounded by the love of her family. She departed this world on Monday morning, February 19, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of warmth and kindness.
Francesca was a woman of remarkable grace and a gentle spirit. Born in Detroit on October 2, 1922, she lived a life filled with love, laughter, and the simple joys that brought her happiness. Francesca was a private individual, finding solace in the tranquility of her home and the beauty of her carefully tended yard and garden.
Her passion for gardening, particularly for her beloved roses, was a testament to her nurturing nature. The vibrant colors and fragrant blossoms were a reflection of the beauty she cultivated in her own life. Francesca found peace in the simple act of tending to her garden, a place where she could connect with nature and find solace. In the heart of her home, the kitchen, Francesca's cooking skills were legendary. Her love for cooking Italian cuisine brought joy to her family and friends. Francesca was renowned for her rich, flavorful sauce and the delicate perfection of her homemade gnocchi.
Beyond her culinary talents, Francesca had a special place in the hearts of children. Known affectionately as "grandma chocolate," she delighted in spreading sweetness and joy by generously sharing her favorite treat.
Francesca's life was a testament to the power of love, generosity, and the beauty found in the simple pleasures of life. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, warmth and a garden of memories that will forever bloom in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Francesca was preceded in death by husbands, Dominic and Carlo, and siblings, Louis DiCicco, Anthony DiCicco and Michela Soave. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Antoinette (John) Cuozzo, and grandchildren, Dominic Cuozzo and Elizabeth (John) Phalen.
Family and friends may gather at Heeney-Sundquist for visitation on Sunday afternoon, February 25, from 2-5 pm, with a 3:00 pm rosary.
Francesca's funeral mass will be celebrated Monday morning, February 26, at 10:00 am (in state at 9:30 am) at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23615 Power Rd., Farmington.
Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty of the roses she so dearly loved.
