Obituary

The beautiful soul of Frances Adelaide Kesler slipped away in the early morning hours of July 24, 2022.

Frances was born to parents, John and Freda Phillips in 1926, and raised in Detroit. While still in high school, she started as a stenographer at Packard Motor Car Company. After graduation, she continued studies at Wayne State University and advanced her career to become the Secretary to Hugh Ferry, the Treasurer and then President of Packard. She worked there for 16 years until 1956. In 1952, she married her high school sweetheart, Keith Grant Kesler, and together they raised three children, until his passing in 1988. In 2010, she married the second love of her life, Tom Hale of Farmington Hills, beginning a new chapter filled with adventure, travel and friendships.

Fran was recognized for her beautiful smile, easy laugh, and effortless way of making everyone feel special, even if she had never met them. She was an avid animal lover and a generous donor to various animal welfare funds. Over the years, she rescued many dogs and cats from the Humane Society or the streets.

Frances' travels included cross-country trips to classic car and art events with Tom, as well as overseas adventures with Keith to Europe, Russia, Japan and more. As a mother, she encouraged and enabled dreams with an adventurous, open-minded spirit and unconditional love. She will be forever in our hearts.

Frances was predeceased by her first husband, Keith Kesler and brother, Robert Phillips. She is survived by her husband, Tom Hale. She was always very proud of her three children, Kim Kesler-Arnold (Dave), Eric Kesler (WanChuan) and Lisa Chapman (Bob), and she nurtured and adored her six grandchildren: Erika and Keith Arnold, Jon and Jennifer Kesler, and Chase and Cassidy Chapman.

The Kesler family will receive friends Thursday, July 28, 3-8 pm at the funeral home.

A funeral service celebrating her long life will be Friday, July 29, 10 am, Rosedale Gardens Presbyterian Church, 9601 Hubbard St, Livonia.

A private burial with her immediate family will be at Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions in her name to ASPCA or Michigan Humane.
