Eugene Francis
Mcgee
Nov 27, 1934 — Aug 5, 2025
Eugene Francis McGee passed away at home of natural causes on August 5, 2025 at the age of 90.
Eugene was born on November 27, 1934, in Detroit, and spent his childhood in the family home in Southfield, Michigan, the third son of Irish immigrants, Thomas and Agnes McGee (Doyle).
In his preschool years, Eugene's mother, Agnes, lost a lung to tuberculosis and was placed in a TB sanitarium, where she remained for two years. His father, Thomas, worked full time and took on tailoring jobs on the side. Eldest brother Clem embraced home duties beyond his years. Older brother Jack and Eugene held their own, and the men got by. Through their adversity, Eugene developed a work ethic rarely seen and was well known for it. After his mother Agnes returned home, younger sister Sharon was added to the mix, giving the family a much-needed sense of renewal.
Throughout his school years, Eugene worked, saving for the necessities of life, and for the day he would marry his bride. At age 21, that day came...and Nidia Angela Tome' became Nidia Angela McGee. Together, Eugene and Nidia raised three boys. Timothy B., Dean A., and Christopher D. A lifelong carpenter and builder, Eugene always provided a good home for his family.
Eugene was preceded in death by many friends and family members, including his son, Christopher in 1992, and wife Nidia in 2023. He is survived by sons Timothy and Dean, and granddaughters Megan, Margaret, Gina, and Marissa.
"We will miss you, dad."
