Obituary

Eugene P. Foley, age 96, of Farmington, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 10, 2026, in Brighton, MI.

Eugene was born March 11, 1930, in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Johanna and Edward Foley.

Born with a curiosity for the world and a quick smile, Eugene was a devoted husband, a proud Irishman, and a man who embraced change—especially the new technologies that emerged over his long life. He served in the U.S. Army early in his life and was stationed in Germany for much of his service. Following his military duty, Eugene enjoyed a distinguished 40-plus-year career as an electrical engineer with Ford Motor Company, a role that allowed him to travel extensively on business and to meet people and places across the globe.

Travel was a lifelong pleasure for Eugene and his wife, Patricia. Together they explored many countries, returned often to Ireland to celebrate their heritage, and shared numerous cruises and memorable vacations. He treasured family gatherings and took great pride in his large extended family and all they accomplished.

At home Eugene found joy in photography and in tending his garden—planting flowers each spring became one of his favorite traditions. He cared deeply for his family, loved to capture the moment with a camera, and delighted in watching technology evolve through the decades.

Eugene is the loving husband of Patricia for over 70 years; beloved father of Edward (Lynne), Lori Schumann (Douglas), Marie Wolffe (Kenneth), Brian (Laurie), Colleen Hoffman (David) and Kristen Panozzo (Michael); dearest grandfather of 11 and great grandfather of 6; fondest brother of Joanne Stack (the late Patrick).

A funeral Mass celebrating Eugene's life will be Monday, May 18, 10 am (in state 9:30 am), Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23815 Power Rd, Farmington.

Immediately following Mass, a funeral procession will take Eugene to his final place of rest, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, MI.

Please keep the Foley family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
