Obituary

Emma Berta Wagner passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Emma was born on November 23, 1930, in Grossdeinbach, Germany. She was the beloved daughter of the late Fritz and Emma Maier.

On February 28, 1954, Emma married the love of her life, Rolf Wagner, in Grossdeinbach. Their marriage was a testament to love and devotion. Emma raised her two daughters, Ilka and Lisa, as she took special care of Rolf who had Type 1 diabetes since the age of 26. Her exceptional cooking skills were a gift to their life together, and she even perfected a healthy cheesecake just for him.

Emma was a woman of remarkable talents. She had a deep love of gardening, knitting, sewing, crafting and decorating. As a talented seamstress, she often made matching clothes for her daughters, infusing love and care into everything she created. She was an accomplished bowler with an impressive, almost, 200 average. She always embraced the joy of cooking, constantly learning new recipes to share with her family.

Emma was a regal lady and world traveler. She traveled most of her life, first with Rolf motorcycling through Europe, and then with friends and family after his death in 1997.  She went as far as Mexico, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica and China.  Emma then brought her memories and experiences to share with friends and family.

Her kindness, creativity, and dedication to those she loved will be fondly remembered by everyone whose life she touched. Emma's legacy of care and love will live on through her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Ilka Kawaelde and Lisa (Michael) Girolami; and granddaughters, D'Andra (Christopher) Kawaelde and Emma (Michael) Girolami .

A celebration of Emma's life will be held at Heeney-Sundquist on Friday, October 18, at Noon. Her family will receive guests beginning at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
