Elvin D.
Lerdahl
May 18, 1943 — Feb 11, 2026
Elvin, age 82, passed peacefully into eternal life on February 11, 2026, at Cranberry Park of Milford Senior Living, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him.
Elvin was born on May 18, 1943, in Windom, Minnesota, to the late Oscar and Ruth (Ring) Lerdahl. He married his beloved wife Kathleen on June 14, 1976, in Toledo, OH.
Elvin was a beloved husband, father, brother, and proud grandpa whose greatest joy in life came from the people he loved. Known for his sweet and charming nature and his wonderful sense of humor, he had a way of making others feel at ease, often bringing smiles and laughter even in the simplest moments. His kindness was genuine and constant — a reflection of the caring and thoughtful man he was throughout his life.
He shared a deep and enduring love with his beloved wife, Kathleen, who preceded him in death on March 16, 2015. Their bond was the center of his world, and he carried her memory with tenderness and devotion every day.
Family meant everything to Elvin. He adored his grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to be part of their lives — faithfully attending dance recitals, cheering proudly at band competitions, and celebrating their accomplishments both big and small. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or moments together enjoying Bates hamburgers, these times created cherished memories that will live on through generations. His latest goal was to be present at Garrett and Andie's wedding in July.
Elvin also valued the companionship of his brothers, spending meaningful time together fishing and hunting, where camaraderie, storytelling, and lifelong bonds brought him great joy. He found peace and happiness in the outdoors — simple pleasures that reflected his calm spirit and appreciation for life's quiet blessings. He loved gathering with friends to enjoy Tiger baseball games and the excitement of horse racing, moments that blended his love for sports, friendship, and shared experiences.
A proud veteran, Elvin served his country honorably in the United States Navy as an electrician. His military service was a source of deep pride, and he carried that sense of dedication and responsibility with him throughout his life.
Those who cared for Elvin were deeply touched by his warmth and gentle personality. The nurses and care staff who knew him grew to love him dearly, many continuing to visit even when he was no longer in their care — a testament to the lasting impression he made on everyone he encountered.
Elvin's life was defined by love, humor, and a quiet strength that comforted those around him. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit lives on in the memories shared, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely.
Surviving Elvin are his devoted daughter, Elona (Jim) Harrison; brothers, Lester, Curtis (Brenda), and Mark (Julie) Lerdahl; grandchildren, Starr (Bruce) Lowman-Steele, Garrett (fiancée Andie Poplin) Harrison and Shelby (fiancé Ronnie Ritchie) Paulus; great-grandchildren, Khloe Lowman, Delilah Steele, Landis Steele, Sophia Heath, and Salem Ritchie; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Elvin was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth (Janet) Lerdahl, and sons, Larry and Randy Paulus.
