Obituary

Elsie June Shea, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2025, at the age of 91, surrounded by her family.

Elsie was born on January 23, 1934, in Charleston, WV.  She grew up in Rantoul, Illinois, where all of her siblings remain today.  Elsie spent more than six decades in Farmington Hills, Michigan, and was a cherished member of the community.

Elsie was married to her loving husband, Jack T. Shea, for nearly 50 years before his passing in 2003. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and memories that continue to resonate with their family. Elsie's energy and enthusiasm for life were truly infectious, and she will be remembered for her bright spirit and the warmth she shared with all who knew her.

For many years, Elsie worked as a receptionist at the family law firm, where she was a familiar and friendly face to all who entered. She continued working there with dedication and passion until just two weeks before her passing, demonstrating her remarkable commitment and work ethic.

Elsie is survived by her two sons, John T. Shea, Jr. (Mary) and David J. Shea (Karen); her siblings Cheryl Freese (Leon), Joe Bonham (Barb), and Cathy Meece; as well as five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom were the lights of her life. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and joy.

The Shea family will receive guests at the funeral home, Sunday, March 30, 2-8 pm.

A funeral mass will be celebrated, Monday, March 31, 10 am (in state 9:30 am), Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23815 Power Rd., Farmington.

Her family kindly asks that donations be made to the Michigan Humane Society , an organization close to Elsie's heart.

Elsie June Shea's presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
