Elizabeth A. Sylvester, age 82, of Canton, passed away peacefully Monday, April 15, 2024.
Elizabeth was born in Detroit, MI in 1942, the daughter of the late Dorothy and Harold Sieloff. Elizabeth was a graduate of Lutheran West High School, attended Wayne State University and began an administrative career working for the Disabled American Veterans organization.
Elizabeth, known fondly as Beth, leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories and a legacy of love and dedication. Her active involvement in her churches, St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Westland and Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Detroit, reflects her commitment to serving others. Her contributions to Vacation Bible School and Operation Christmas Child touched countless lives and spread joy far and wide. She was humbled to be chosen by St. Matthew as Lutheran Woman of the Year in 2013.
Beth rejoiced in the Lutheran education she received throughout her childhood and instilled this love in her children. Throughout her life, she was a proud supporter of the Lutheran High School Association of Greater Detroit.
Beth's partnership with Larry in both marriage and business exemplifies a life shared in love and collaboration. Their retail venture, L&L Hardware, stands not only as a testament to their entrepreneurial spirit but also as a symbol of their enduring bond. For 33 years, they worked tirelessly side by side, leaving an indelible mark on their community.
Their shared passion for travel took them on adventures across the country, with Maine holding a special place in their hearts. These journeys were not just about seeing new places but also about strengthening the bond between Beth and Larry, creating cherished family memories that will endure.
Beth's creative spirit found expression in her love for crafting and sewing, skills she shared with her loved ones, adding warmth and personal touches to their lives.
Above all, Beth cherished her time with her children and grandchildren. The love and joy she poured into her family will continue to resonate through the generations, a lasting legacy of love and devotion.
Beth is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Lawrence "Larry". She is the beloved mother of Laura Frost, Carolyn (Paul) Biegalski, and Ellen (Wesley) Shasko; cherished grandmother of Christian, Richard, Thomas, Paul, Margaret, Megan, Ryan and Matthew; and dearest sister of Kathleen Wingfield (Keith) and Harold (Gail) Sieloff.
