White Lake

Obituary

Dung Huynh, of White Lake, passed away at McLaren Oakland hospital with his loving family by his side on Monday, August 21, 2023. He was 65 years old.

Dung was a cherished husband, father, and respected application engineer, who built an extraordinary life from humble beginnings. He was born March 9, 1958, in Saigon, Vietnam and, along with his family, sought refuge in the United States in 1975. His journey was one of resilience, determination, and eventual triumph.

After arriving in Birmingham, Michigan, Dung tirelessly pursued his dreams and aspirations by starting as a bus boy and newspaper boy. He worked his way up to become a successful application engineer at TRW/ITW and became a shining example of the American Dream. His dedication, hard work, and unwavering commitment were evident in his professional achievements.

Beyond his professional success, Dung was a man of remarkable character. His playful and goofy nature endeared him to everyone he encountered. His caring and joking personality brightened the lives of those around him, and his outgoing nature ensured that he could strike up a conversation with anyone, turning strangers into friends.

A true handyman and Jack of all trades, Dung had a unique ability to fix anything that came his way. His attention to detail and consideration for others were second to none. He always put the needs of others before his own, making him a beloved figure in the lives of his families and friends.

For 28 wonderful years, Dung was married to his adored wife, Khanh. Their love was a beacon of strength and unity, a testament to the depth of their love. Dung took great pride in his family, always bragging about his daughters' achievements and holding them close to his heart. He often playfully claimed that the family dog, Tinny, held the esteemed title of "most important family member."

In his leisure time, Dung enjoyed watching action movies and finding the next biggest, greatest, and newest tool to buy. No challenge was too great for him, as he consistently tackled each task with determination and a can-do attitude.

Dung faced his long and brave battle with lymphoma with incredible courage, demonstrating the same resilience that characterized his entire life. Despite the challenges he faced, his spirit remained unbreakable, and he continued to radiate warmth and love to those around him.

Dung leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and inspiration. He will be deeply missed by his wife, family, friends, Tinny the dog, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.  As we remember his infectious smile, his boundless generosity, and his unwavering spirt, let us honor Dung's memory by living with the same kindness, strength, and love that he beautifully embodied.

Dung is survived by his cherished wife of 28 years, Khanh Huynh; beloved children, Jonathan Huynh, Jennifer (Philip) Huynh-Casey, Alexandra Huynh, and Tinny Huynh; dear brothers, Son (Lan) Huynh, Quoc (Kim Anh) Huynh, Tom (Marie) Sargee, and Robert (Victoria) Sargee; and best friend, John Carey.

Dung was preceded in death by his parents, Duoc Huynh and Thien Tran.
