Dorothy Ernestine  (Avie-Cook) McCoskey passed away on July 13, 2023. Her parents were Mary and Ernest Avie. Dorothy had a deceased sister Angela and surviving brother Roger.

Dorothy went to Mackenzie High School where she graduated valedictorian. There she met and married Donald Cook. They had three children. Dennis, Duane, and Diane with 6 grandchildren. 7 great-grandchildren. Don passed away in 1984.

Dorothy then met and married Walter McCoskey at Nardin Park Church. Her family expanded with one stepson Walter Jr, stepdaughter Elizabeth passed, and four step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. They were married for 32 years and lived in Farmington Hills and most recently at Fox Run in Novi. They both stayed active in the church.

Dorothy enjoyed working both at the church with children and adult groups, producing and directing plays, singing in the choir, and in the community mentoring young women into business careers. She and Walter enjoyed traveling from Alaska to South America.

Visitation will be at Nardin Park United Methodist Church, 29887 W. Eleven Mile Rd., Farmington Hills, on Wednesday, July 19, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., followed by a light luncheon.

She will be buried at Glen Eden Memorial Park Cemetery next to her former husband Don Cook in Livonia.

No flowers but memorial donations may be made to Nardin Park UMC Music Department.
