Dorothy Mae
Kobmann
May 13, 1930 — Apr 4, 2026
Farmington Hills
Dorothy M. Kobmann, age 95, of Farmington Hills, passed away peacefully at home, Saturday, April 4 2026.
Dorothy was born in Detroit, MI, May 13, 1930, the daughter of the late Aurelia and George Ginger.
Dorothy was born and raised in Detroit and graduated from Cooley High School. The oldest of five daughters, she carried a strong sense of family throughout her life. In 1953 she married Ed at the original Covenant Baptist Church in Detroit; she remained a devoted, lifelong member of that church even after it moved to its current location in West Bloomfield and was among its oldest members.
A gifted cook who learned from her mother, Dorothy delighted in preparing meals for family and friends — a love of cooking she passed on to her daughter. She treasured time with her grandchildren and made it a priority to be present for them whenever she could. Dorothy and Ed traveled widely across the United States; she especially adored Hawaii, which she visited both with Ed and later on her own. She also enjoyed making several trips to Europe with a group from her church. Dorothy was also an avid Detroit Tigers fan and would do her best to know what was going on with every game.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Edward H. Kobmann. She is the loving mother of Karen Leigh Wampler (Joseph), Mark (Fran) and Edward; beloved grandmother of Christopher, David, Ryan and Lindsey and great grandmother of 9; dearest sister of Dolores, Georgianna, Patricia and Sharon and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
The Kobmann family will receive friends Friday, April 10, 3-8 pm at the funeral home.
A funeral service celebrating Dorothy's life will be Saturday, April 11, 10 am at the funeral home.
Immediately following her funeral service, a funeral procession will take Dorothy to her final place of rest next to her husband, Ed, at Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia.
Her family would encourage everyone to consider making a donation in Dorothy's name to the Salvation Army . Please use the link provided to make your donation.
Please keep the Kobmann family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
