Obituary

Dorothy Ann (Catherman) Marcinkiewicz, age 83, of Farmington Hills, a woman known for her boundless social spirit, adventurous soul, and insatiable love for travel, has embarked on her final journey. She peacefully passed away, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, on October 9, 2023.

Dorothy's love for adventure led her to explore the rugged landscapes of the American West, including unforgettable trips to Yellowstone National Park and Teton National Park. Her passion for travel extended to exploring old Civil War sites, a shared joy with her beloved husband Ron, with whom she created countless enduring memories.

An avid reader, Dorothy had a special place in her heart for the works of Stephen King. His tales of suspense and imagination were a constant source of delight and wonder for her.

In her earlier years, Dorothy lent her melodious voice to the world of music. She was an active member of the Rackham Symphony Choir in Detroit during the 1970s, contributing her vocal talents to the enchanting harmonies. For approximately two decades, she found her musical home in the Apollo Chorus of Chicago, where her voice resonated beautifully alongside fellow choir members.

Dorothy's gregarious nature and her unwavering commitment to the joy of singing enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her zest for life and the connections she formed will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.

As we say goodbye to Dorothy, let us remember her as the spirited, adventurous soul who brought music and mirth into our lives. Her legacy lives on through the memories she created and the love she shared with those fortunate enough to have known her.

Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Laura (Jerry Prutsman) Marcin, and Jeffrey (Paula Johnson) McKibben; grandchildren, Stacey (Bob) Ripley, and Ian McKibben; and great-grand daughter, Kaitlyn Ripley.

Sadly, Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 25 years, Ronald Marcinkiewicz; dear children, Larry McKibben, and Mike McKibben; granddaughter, Sheena McKibben; sister, Jeannie Gorman; parents, Vern (Verna) Catherman; and brother-in-law, Merle Gorman.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Dorothy's memory to the World Wildlife Fund , a charity close to her heart.
