Donald Edward
Prieskorn
Nov 22, 1929 — Mar 31, 2025
Donald Edward Prieskorn, born on November 22, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, entered eternal life peacefully on Monday morning, March 31, 2025. He was 95 years old.
Donald was the son of Harold Bernard Prieskorn (deceased, 1981) and Eleanor Minsol (deceased, 1936), and the beloved brother of Robert and Harold Jr. (both deceased). He was also predeceased by his stepmother, Gertrude Schmidt (deceased, 2004), and his first wife, Eleanor Elaine Jennings (deceased, 1999). Donald later married Irene Marie LaLonde in October 2000, who preceded him in death in April 2020.
Donald graduated from Redford Union High School in 1948, where he excelled in sports, participating in football, basketball, cross country, and track, and was a member of the student council. It was also there that he met the love of his life, Eleanor. Donald proudly served in the U.S. Army, on active duty from July 1948 to July 1949 with the 142nd Armored Signal Company and continued in the Reserves until June 1953.
On May 6, 1950, Donald married Eleanor Elaine Jennings, and together they made their home in Livonia, where they raised their family. He spent much of his career at Michigan Bell. Donald and Eleanor shared a love for square dancing, traveling, and camping across the United States. They especially enjoyed spending their winters in Florida, where he spent many hours wading in the surf, searching for sand dollars.
Donald was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Redford and later became a member of First Presbyterian Church in Farmington in 2018. He was known for his caring, helpful, and loyal nature, and he formed deep connections with everyone he met. Donald was a true family man and was devoted to his loved ones, including his son, Ronald Prieskorn, his daughter-in-law, Nancy, and his beloved granddaughter, Katelyn. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Charles Jennings, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the many devoted caregivers who supported Donald during the past few years of his life.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia later this month to honor Donald's life and legacy.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
