Obituary

Donald Franklin Grose, age 90, a remarkable man of resilience, love, and ingenuity, peacefully passed away on, February 10, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on May 29, 1933, the son of the late Frederick and Viola (Haas) Grose, Don's journey through life was defined by dedication, service, and unwavering family bonds.

A proud veteran of the Army, Don initially contributed his skills to the ordnance of helicopters and tanks. His talent on the field propelled him to become a pitcher for the Army baseball team. Beyond the battleground, he found another lifelong teammate in his high school sweetheart, Jane. They exchanged vows on June 4, 1955, marking the beginning of a beautiful journey together. Don and Jane, who met at Clarenceville High School, remained high school sweethearts throughout their enduring marriage.

Don's commitment to education and personal growth was exemplified by his return to school after marriage, ultimately graduating from Lawrence Tech with a degree in mechanical engineering. Applying his skills, he founded "JADO Engineering" in Farmington, showcasing his ability to mend anything and revealing a particular talent for fixing clocks.

Known for his infectious sense of humor, unwavering devotion to Jane, and constant support for nephews and nieces, Don touched the lives of many. His love and resilience were especially evident in his relationship with his late son, Douglas, who faced muscular dystrophy at a young age. Undeterred by challenges, Don ingeniously crafted a ventilator for the back of Douglas's wheelchair, ensuring they could share cherished moments, including vacations.

In addition to being a devoted father to daughter Karen, Don's heart overflowed with love for the late Douglas. His legacy is a testament to the enduring power of love, humor, and the indomitable human spirit. Donald Franklin Grose will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Don is survived by his adored wife, Jane; beloved daughter, Karen Grose; brother, Robert (Kathy) Grose; and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his loving son, Douglas Grose; and brother, Frederick Grose.
