Obituary

Damingo M. Nieto, "Dominic" "Boppa", of Brighton, beloved Husband, Dad, Boppa, Brother and friend, passed into eternal life on Friday morning, June 24, 2022.

Dominic was born April 30, 1934, in Detroit, one of eleven children to the late Damingo and Dolly (Schanve) Nieto.  He grew up the second youngest on Holcomb Street in Detroit. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the Army, First Calvary Division and returned to meet and marry the love of his life, Kathleen, on June 17, 1961.

They were happily married for 61 years and raised 3 children in Dearborn. He most enjoyed spending time with his 11 grandchildren who affectionately called him 'Boppa', never missing a sporting event or school activity.
Though Dominic had a long and successful career in the auto industry working for General Motors Die Manufacturing, if you asked him, he would say that his greatest passion was spending time with his children, never missing an event or game. He was always involved including managing teams, President of PTA, and President of Dearborn Hockey Association.

In retirement his most cherished moments were the ones he spent with his grandchildren, looking for bugs and hanging out on the floor when they were young. Then, being the proudest spectator in the stands at any baseball, football, hockey, or softball game he attended.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Kathleen; devoted children, Leslie (Timothy) Allen, Dominic (Kelly) Nieto and Paul (Tracy) Nieto; siblings, Jimmy (the late Roma) Nieto, Rose (the late Bob) Heathfield, and Louis (Karin) Nieto; and cherished grandchildren, Shane (fiancée Sara Baker), Patrick and Danny Allen, Kayce (Spencer) Witt, Dominic III, Matthew, Grace and Blake Nieto, Makenzie (Hunter) Wilson, and Morgan and Molly Nieto.  He was preceded in death by siblings, Milan, Dolly, Dan, Millie, Anne, Manny, and Joe.

The Nieto family will receive guests at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home, downtown Farmington, on Wednesday, June 29, from 2-8 pm.

Dominic's funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday morning, June 30, at 10:30 am (in state 10:00 am) at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 711 Rickett Road, Brighton.  Military funeral honors will conclude the ceremony.
