Diane L.
Bateman
Feb 11, 1949 — Feb 8, 2026
Diane Bateman, of Farmington Hills, beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and daughter, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 8, 2026. She was 76 years old.
Diane was born February 11, 1949, in Detroit, to the late Edward and Margaret (Hinman) Baynes. A remarkably capable and vibrant woman, she was known for her sharp intellect, quick wit, warmth, and unwavering wisdom. She offered thoughtful advice and steady guidance to her children throughout every stage of their lives.
Married at 18, she and Ron built a long and deeply loving marriage that spanned decades, rooted in mutual devotion and companionship. Together with Ron, she raised their two children with love, dedication, and presence. She was a devoted and supportive mother who cherished family time—whether spending time in the pool, treasure-hunting at garage sales, organizing family game night, or simply being close as a family.
A lifelong hard worker with an entrepreneurial spirit, Diane balanced raising her family while running her own painting and wallpaper business as a stay-at-home mother. She was involved for many years with the Redford Suburban League, where she acted, danced, designed and sewed costumes for every dance routine and stage scene, and at times served as director—pouring creativity and care into every production. In the 1990s she started Encore Estate Sales, a business she operated with characteristic organization, energy, and determination for 30 years. Few could match her work ethic.
As a devoted daughter and only child, she remained close to and supportive of her mother, Margaret Baynes, throughout her life. An adoring grandmother, she delighted in planning fun, memorable activities for her granddaughters Chloe and Emma, always eager to make special moments with them.
A true "sun worshipper," Diane loved nothing more than soaking up the sunshine—whether lounging by the lake during years of camping with Ron at Haas Lake or relaxing in her own backyard pool. She will be remembered as a woman of strength, creativity, humor, and endless love for her family.
Diane is survived by her loving husband Ron, her children Chris Bateman and Carrie (Jeff Perry) Bateman; her granddaughters, Chloe and Emma; and many dear friends.
