Delbert Ray Gibbs, age 83, of Beverly Hills, MI, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026.

Del was born on July 24, 1942, to Cecil and Georgia Gibbs.

Del graduated from Pontiac Central High School, where he met the love of his life, Nancy (Wyzgoski). After graduation, he served proudly in the U.S. Army, married Nancy, and started his family. They had two daughters, Debra Gibbs and Michele (Ben) Hylko.

Most of his adult life was spent in California. He worked at Entrepreneur Magazine and eventually owned four of the company's bookstores. Del used his weekends enjoying his passions:  travel, food, and history.

Del moved back to Michigan later in his life, became an agent/owner of two insurance offices and set off to discover this side of the country.

His grandchildren, Francesca Soda, Evan Movaghar (Rachael), Abigail Hylko, and Grayson Coulter, along with his great-children, Jackson Demery, and Emily Movaghar learned early that if Papa was involved, there would be fun to be had!

He was funny, adventurous, intelligent, and most of all kind. He shared all these qualities with the people he loved and strangers alike. His legacy lives on in his family with their search for knowledge, the ability to laugh loudly, freely and often and to care about others.

A private burial will take place at Fr. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
