Darnez
Head
Sep 5, 1954 — Jan 18, 2026
Farmington Hills
Darnez Head was born on September 5, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, and entered eternal rest on January 18, 2026. A devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and loyal friend, Darnez lived a life defined by connection, laughter, and love. Wherever he went, he brought calm, humor, and a sense of ease that made everyone around him feel welcome. With Darnez, you always knew you were safe, seen, and accepted—because acceptance and love were his nature, rare gifts that he shared freely with everyone fortunate enough to know him.
For more than 35 years, Darnez dedicated himself to The Cable Company, where he was known not only as a respected leader, but as someone who genuinely cared about people. He had a gift for turning everyday conversations into teachable moments—always patient, always calm, always making it fun. He connected deeply, listened openly, and built relationships that lasted a lifetime. Work for Darnez was never just a job; it was about people, relationships, and leaving the world better than he found it.
The greatest story of Darnez's life began one evening at a bar, the kind of night where you don't expect anything extraordinary to happen. But Darnez noticed Gerland across the room, and something in him stirred—something he couldn't ignore. With his natural humor, easy charm, and playful spirit, he found ways to make her laugh, listen, and feel at ease. Night after night, he showed his care in small, thoughtful ways—always genuine, always kind. Slowly, irresistibly, Gerland opened her heart to him, and they began a journey that would last a lifetime.
They were married on Valentine's Day, sharing 31 years of marriage and more than 40 years together, building a life filled with laughter, joy, and unwavering devotion. Known affectionately as Bonnie and Clyde, they were inseparable, sharing adventures, everyday moments, and challenges side by side—a love that became the foundation for an entire family.
Darnez was famous for his cooking—especially his grilling—and for hosting family dinners and unforgettable parties. He had a way of making every meal, every gathering, feel special, full of warmth and laughter. His sense of humor was unmatched; you never knew what he might say next, but it was guaranteed to make you smile. He loved the casino, Detroit Lions football, great company, and an ice-cold beer. More than anything, he loved seeing the people he cared about happy and comfortable.
Darnez lived by a few simple truths: the worst anyone could say was "no," it's always worth a shot, and there was always a reason to laugh. With a cheerful "What up, fellas?" a grin that could light up a room, and a loving heart, he approached life with courage, humor, and warmth—leaving an unforgettable mark on everyone who had the joy of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gerland Head; his beloved children, Cathrine Culp, Stacy Head, Derek Head, Jordan Head, Marissa Head, James Head, Audrina Head, Chris Head, and Jayden Head; his adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Edwin, Jamar, Aniya, Bryson, and Corde; his cherished bonus grandchildren, Lorenzo, and Tru; his dear siblings, Michael Head, Felicia Washington, and Blaine Head; his stepfather, Roy Jackson; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including Latonya, Yolanda, Deshaun Head, Deontez, Demarko, and Angel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Casselle Head and Marion Jackson; his beloved son, Byron Head; and his sister, Jacqueline Head.
Visitation will take place on Monday, January 26, 2026, from 2:00–8:00 p.m. at Heeney Sundquist Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home.
