Curtis Mathison's life was forever changed when he met the love of his life, Patricia, during their freshman year at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. On April 8, 1955, the two exchanged vows and embarked on a journey of love, partnership, shared dreams, and trust.

Curtis was a dedicated music teacher, beloved church organist, and passionate advocate for passenger trains. Curtis touched countless lives through his tireless dedication to music education, his unwavering faith, and his infectious sense of humor.

As a music teacher in the Detroit Public Schools, Curtis inspired generations of students with his mastery of vocal music. His commitment to excellence and his passion for music were evident in every lesson he taught. Whether he was leading a concert or performing a solo, Curtis's talent and enthusiasm were unmistakable.

Outside of the classroom, Curtis was deeply involved in his community and his church, serving as an organist for numerous churches. His faith was a guiding force in his life, and he found great joy in sharing his love of music with others through his piano and organ performances.

Curtis loved passenger trains as well as traveling. He proudly travelled to all 50 states, and he was always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with anyone who would listen.

In addition to his musical pursuits and his advocacy for trains, Curtis was a devoted gardener, taking great pride in his meticulously maintained yard and bountiful vegetable and flower gardens. His dedication to perfection extended to every aspect of his life, and he approached each endeavor with a steadfast work ethic and a commitment to excellence.

Curtis's passion for genealogy was another lifelong pursuit, and he delighted in uncovering connections and sharing the stories of his family's history. His curiosity and enthusiasm for learning were boundless, and he inspired those around him to embrace their own heritage and history.

Curtis will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, and his unwavering dedication to his craft. He leaves behind a legacy of music, faith, and community that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched throughout his remarkable life.
