Obituary

Cora Ethel Dettinger, a cherished sister, aunt, and friend, passed into eternal life on May 15, 2025, just a few months shy of her 100th birthday. Born on October 21, 1925, in Farmington, Michigan, she was one of six children born to the late Clarence and Francesca (Livingston) Billing.

A proud graduate of Farmington High School, Class of 1943, Cora spent much of her life in dedicated service to her community. She worked for 25 years at the Farmington Dairy before becoming a familiar and well-loved face as a sample server at Sam's Club. Her warm smile and kind spirit brought joy to countless customers over the years.

In 1968, Cora married Harold Dettinger, and together they shared nearly a decade of companionship until his passing in 1977.

Cora lived a full and active life. She was a proud member of several community organizations including the Farmington Elks, the Eagles Club in Gaylord, and the Salem United Church of Christ in Farmington, where her faith remained a central part of her life.

She is lovingly survived by her brother, Earl (Dorothy) Billing, as well as many nieces and nephews who will remember her with affection. In addition to her husband Harold, she was preceded in death by her siblings Joyce Gagnon, Marjorie Prisk, Betty Milburn, and Clara Simpson.

Cora will be laid to rest following a private family gathering at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Michigan.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Salem United Church of Christ in Farmington.

Her long life was marked by devotion, kindness, and a generous heart. She will be deeply missed.
