Constantin
Diceanu
Aug 16, 1944 — Aug 1, 2023
Farmington
Constantin Diceanu was born in Romania on August 16, 1944, the son of the late Toma and Maria Diceanu. He was a sibling to four brothers and two sisters. In November 1969, at the age of 25, he married Ioana Dumitru, also from Romania, with whom he was happily married for almost 54 years. Their marriage was filled with mutual love, self-sacrifice, commitment and deep care for one another. Although in God's sovereignty for his life, Constantin had to navigate through multiple health challenges and economic hardships, due to living life behind the Iron Curtain in a communist country, these difficulties only forged and firmed the deep love, commitment and care that he had for his wife and that his wife had for him. Out of their marriage and love for one another two children were born, a daughter and a son. Mirela Diceanu was born in 1970 and lives in the United Kingdom, and Marian Diceanu was born in 1974 and lives in the USA with his wife, Irina Diceanu and their son, Robert Benjamin Diceanu. Constantin was a wonderful example as a husband, father and he was the best grandfather that one could hope to have, to his only grandchild Robert Benjamin.
Constantin worked very hard to provide for his family. Despite his precarious health he had a strong work ethic which he displayed with consistency and grace. Although earlier on in life he had various jobs, the longest part of his career was spent as a welder in the construction of bridges in Romania, job from which he retired in 1999.
Despite the precarious nature of his health and economic challenges, Constantin, along with his wife, were very generous and hospitable, often hosting for meals, large groups of people visiting from other churches in Romania. He would often help widows and orphans by repairing whatever needed to be repaired, free of charge.
He was full of life, vivacious and always active. He loved fishing and traveling throughout Romania with his wife and children. Later in life as his children moved to the United Kingdom and USA, respectively, he loved to travel to both countries for many months during the year, enjoying his children, and later in life his grandchild. He was very active until 2 - 3 months before his passing, as he loved to walk with his wife, 8 or 10 miles, almost on a daily basis.
The wonderful life that he lived was not due to personal innate goodness. Everything derived from a day in March 1974, when he and his wife Ioana entered the local Baptist Church in Fetesti, Romania. There he heard the gospel of Jesus Christ, who came in this world to die for his sins. There and that day he confessed his sins, and put his faith in Jesus Christ to save him. His wonderful life was solely derived from the wonderful Savior, Jesus Christ, whom Constantin loved and served since 1974. Since that day he led and raised his family to follow Jesus Christ.
Upon hearing that his life on this earth would end, he faced that reality with grace, assurance and faith, knowing that upon his death he would enter the nearer presence of his Savior and would hear the words, "Well done good and faithful servant" (Matthew 25:21). In light of that reality, although his family feels a deep sorrow, it is not a sorrow without hope. It is a temporary pain that will give way to unspeakable joy, and it is this faith in Christ that makes the family say with confidence, "When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be. When we all see Jesus, we'll sing and shout the victory."
Constantin is survived by his dear wife of 54 years, Ioana Diceanu; loving children, Mirela Diceanu and Marian (Irina) Diceanu; brother, Ilie Ion; and sisters, Florica Marinache and Victoria Zapodeanu; beloved grandson, Robert Benjamin Diceanu. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Musat Diceanu, Cornel Diceanu and Vasilica Diceanu.
