Clarence G.
Robbins, "Clem"
Jul 5, 1943 — Mar 16, 2023
Farmington Hills
Clarence G. Robbins, "Clem", age 79 of East China, passed away on March 16, 2023. He was born on July 5, 1943, in Detroit, MI. He married Frances Crimaldi, "Fran", on August 1 st , 1964. Fran passed on April 27, 2021.
Clem was an electrician by trade, retiring from GM after 30 years of service, but his passions in life were his cars and going to hydroplane boat races. In his younger days, he was quite enthralled with his "hot-rods". You could always find him either working on his cars or motorcycles or driving them around Detroit. Fran was once cast in a Hollywood movie in which they used his 1978 Caprice Classic.
Clem also enjoyed following hydroplane boats on the racing circuit, and he attended as many races as he could whether that was in the Detroit area or out of state. He enjoyed spending entire weekends camping overnight on Belle Isle in order to have a front row spot for the action. He knew the drivers by name and met many of them thru the years.
He is survived by his sister Sandra Robbins Ford; his children, Lisa (Allan) Boots and Michelle (James) Aranowski and his grandchildren, Jordan, Lindsey, Megan, Derrick and Carson. He was preceded in death by his father, Archie Lee Robbins, his mother Regina (Reggie) Gutowski Robbins, and his half-sister June Robbins.
A celebration of life for both Clem and Fran will be held Saturday, March 25 th at the funeral home. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. and a ceremony honoring their lives will be held at 2:00 p.m. Please feel free to share a memory using the tab to the left.
