Charles Bruce Grant, age 78, a devoted husband, father, and accomplished professional, passed away on August 10, 2023.
Charles was born in Flint, Michigan, on November 29, 1944, but it was in Detroit that he began his remarkable journey. Charles's life was marked by unwavering love and dedication to his family, his community, and his passions.
In the prime of his youth, Charles found his soulmate in Sharon, the love of his life. They embarked on a beautiful journey together, forging a bond that would last a lifetime. After graduating from Detroit Business School, Charles became a Certified Public Accountant in his early 20's.
In 1972, Charles and Sharon settled in Livonia, Michigan, where they continued to build a life brimming with love and shared experiences. In 1981, an opportunity led them to Southern California, where Charles was promoted to Chief Financial Officer of Huck Manufacturing. The couple's adventurous spirt eventually guided them back to their Michigan roots when he accepted a position with Federal Mogul and relocated the family to Franklin Village.
Life took an unforeseen turn in 2009 when Charles faced the heartbreaking loss of his beloved Sharon. In the wake of her passing, Charles admirably took on the responsibility of both parental roles and helped to guide and support the family for the rest of his life.
Charles was more than a mere observer of life; he was a sports enthusiast with a passion for the Detroit Lions, Tigers, and the Michigan Wolverines. His deep love for his family resulted in many family vacations and countless cherished memories with those he held dear.
Later in life, Charles embraced a new interest in health and fitness. His determination and commitment to wellness were evident to all that knew him. He was a pillar of support and Charles joyfully extended his tax expertise to his family and friends without hesitation.
His wisdom was a beacon, and his advice a guiding light to those fortunate enough to seek it. Charles's hobbies spanned from bowling to baseball, from movies to sporting events, and from golf to gatherings with friends and family. He truly enjoying the simple pleasures of life.
Charles touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on his family, friends, and community. He will be dearly missed by all.
Charles is survived by his loving sons, Richard (Annie) Grant, Ronald Grant, and Robert Grant; dear brother, James (Victoria) Grant; beloved grandchildren, Katie (Chad) Stelkic, Megan (David) Schroeder, Oliva Grant, Miles Grant, Logan Grant, and Charlie Grant; great-grandchildren, Beckett Stelkic and Louisa Stelkic. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon Kathleen Grant (D. 9/22/2009).
A memorial gathering will take place September 23, 2023, from 10 am – 2:30 pm, at the Heeney-Sundquist funeral home. A memorial service will begin immediately following visitation.
The Grant family invites everyone to celebrate the remarkable life of Charles and share their cherished stories during a luncheon at John Cowley and Sons immediately following Charles's memorial service, from 3 – 5 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the V foundation.
