Obituary

Carol A. Terry, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Community Hospice and Palliative Care in Jacksonville, after a long battle with illness. She was 64 years old. Her beloved daughter, Leigh, was at her side.

Born on November 9, 1960, in Detroit, Michigan, Carol was the daughter of the late Melvin and Mary Jo (Graham) Terry. She grew up in Livonia and graduated from Churchill High School in 1978. Carol was a bright and happy child who found joy in simple pleasures—riding her bike, admiring her favorite red patent leather shoes, playing Scrabble and backgammon, rocking out at Pine Knob as a season ticket holder, and spending time with family.

Carol began her career at General Foods as a co-op student during high school, and what began as a part-time opportunity grew into a lifelong commitment. She dedicated over 40 years to the company, which later became Kraft/General Foods Corp. Her work brought her from Livonia to Jacksonville, where she built a life and cared for her daughter while also regularly volunteering and organizing donations to local shelters and relief service providers within Jacksonville.

Known for her generous spirit, kindness, and unwavering love for those around her, Carol was a devoted mother, a proud grandmother, a loyal sister, and a dear friend. Her strength, warmth, and quiet determination touched the lives of many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Mary Jo, and her infant sister, Paula.

Carol leaves behind her daughter, Leigh Delmond (Tony), her four treasured grandchildren: Allison, Teddy, Mimi, and Sadie. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Sue Walker (David) and Barbara Pfahlert (Dan), as well as her nieces, nephew, and friends who will miss her deeply.  Additionally, she is a dear cousin to Kathy Grenman, Karen Kee, Kimberly Zablocki, John Grenman, Stephen Mardigian, Robert Grover, Jr., Ralph Grover (deceased), David Mardigian (deceased), James Grover, Thomas Grover, Michelle Maynarich, Charles Mardigian (deceased), Michael Grover, Lisa Rotolo, and Jaci Churan.

Family and friends may gather at the Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home in downtown Farmington on Thursday, June 19, from 10:30 am – 12 noon.  Interment will follow at Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley.

Memorial tributes are kindly suggested to the National Kidney Foundation .
