Obituary

Carol, of Farmington Hills, peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 7, at Corewell Health, Farmington Hills.  She was 86 years old.  A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Carol touched the lives of those around her with her warmth and unwavering spirit.

Carol was born on July 13, 1937, in Galesburg, Illinois, to the late Iver and Mildred (Powless) Wetterburg.  She was preceded in death by an infant son, James Martin Stablein, on February 10, 1960.

Surviving are three beloved sons, Paul (Gloria), Rod (Catrinne) and Steven (Sue); her dear sister, Donna (the late Jim) Ireton; and nine grandchildren.

Music was the melody of Carol's life, as she found joy in singing, playing the piano, and strumming her guitar. Her love for music filled her days with harmony and brought joy to those who had the pleasure of listening.  An avid reader and lifelong learner, Carol's thirst for knowledge knew no bounds. Her curiosity and passion for learning enriched her life and inspired those around her to embrace the wonders of the world.  Carol found solace and serenity in her garden and the great outdoors. Her green thumb and love for nature blossomed in her garden, where she cultivated beauty and tranquility.

Full of grit and determination, Carol navigated life with a no-nonsense attitude, always speaking her mind with honesty and clarity, yet never in a way that would offend others. Independent and protective, she raised her three sons single-handedly, instilling in them the values of resilience and strength.

Though Carol has departed from this earthly realm, her legacy of love and resilience will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones.  She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory be a blessing and may she rest in peace.

Carol will be interred at St. Mary's Cemetery, St. Clair, Michigan.
