Carol Mae Perry, of Northville, age 92, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on October 25, 2022.
Carol was born on January 9, 1930, the beloved daughter of the late Irma (Garner) and Louis Snover in Detroit, Michigan. She attended Cooley High School in Detroit and soon met the love of her life, the late George Perry. The two were married on September 27, 1947 at the Church of God in Detroit, Michigan.
Carol began her career at Sears Roebuck & Company as a window display worker at the Pontiac location. Dedicated and determined, she excelled at custom drapery design at the Grand River and Oakman Avenue store in Detroit. She was naturally talented as a designer and some of her many window treatment projects included the City Hall of Detroit and the home of Aretha Franklin. Carol transferred to other Sears locations in Livonia and Novi during the thirty years that she worked for the company. She found yet another avenue as a furniture salesperson. She received many awards for being the top performing furniture salesperson on the Sears team.
Carol was known for being the heart of her loving and caring family. She was reliable, dependable, nurturing, and liked staying active. Carol had a lifelong bond with her sisters, June and Dolores. When Carol was not spending time with her beloved family, she enjoyed listening to and playing music, and taught herself to play both the piano and guitar. In addition to loving music, Carol enjoyed spending time creating; oil painting, sewing, knitting and crocheting were among her many favorite past times.
Surviving are three devoted children, Thomas Perry, Kirt (Frances) Perry, and Robin (Christopher) Schweizer; five cherished grandchildren, Nicole (Rick) Christy, Kristopher (Jamie) Perry, Erin (James) Block, Carmen Schweizer, and Andrew Schweizer; and four treasured great-grandchildren, Ella Christy, Arden Perry, Ember Perry and Olivia Block. Carol is also survived by many caring nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Carol was preceded in death by her dear sisters, June (John "Blair") Lloyd and Dolores Atkins.
A visitation will be held at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home on Monday, October 31, from 2- 8 pm.
A funeral service is planned for Tuesday morning , November 1, beginning at 11 am, at Heeney-Sundquist Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes are kindly suggested to Boys Town or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society .
