Carol was a longtime member of the Farmington, MI, community and an avid volunteer for the betterment of the city in which she lived and called home for over 60 years.

Carol was born and raised in White Plains, NY where she spent her childhood. In the Summers she would visit and enjoy time with her relatives in Potsdam, NY where she played and enjoyed the outdoors at Grandshue Lodge with her parents, grandparents, sister, aunt, uncle and cousins (Mollie Jo Auchincloss (deceased), Cinnie Curry (Hal) and John Deans (Gretchen.) She was also close with her cousin Henry Peyer (deceased) of Kingston, NY.

Carol excelled in her academics and attended Syracuse University, graduating with Honors. She was a proud member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority and studied home economics and interior design. Following her graduation in 1953 she started her early career as a County Extension Agent in Oswego, NY. She taught women on all aspects of the home and design and even had her own cooking show on local TV. She later moved to Michigan in 1962 to pursue her graduate degree at Michigan State University majoring in Extension Education and Communications, graduating with Honors. She met her ex-husband, Noel Kurth while finishing her degree and later relocated to Farmington, MI in 1964 to start a family. She had one son, Thomas, whom she loved and affectionately nicknamed Toby. She was a very proud and supportive Mother and was always involved in school activities such as music, sports and academics. She loved to teach and pass on her knowledge and skills. She later divorced and focused on her career and activities that brought her joy and happiness.

Carol loved organizing and working with people. She worked helping others as a home economist, executive assistant, office manager and volunteer. She was a lifetime member of the Jaycee Auxiliary and volunteered for organizations such as Keep Michigan Beautiful, City of Farmington Beautification Committee, Beautification Council of Southeastern Michigan, City of Farmington Project 2000 Task Force, Farmington Historical Preservation Society and many others. Most recently, Carol was a proud volunteer at the Farmington Farmers Market where she spent her Saturdays from May through October over the past 12 years. She assisted in organizing and closing down the market each week, as well as other duties throughout the year. She looked forward to each Saturday at the Market, and she met many people and made many close friends.

She loved gardening, landscaping, reading, organizing, teaching, volunteering, traveling, theater, music, and sports. She enjoyed spending time with friends and regularly met for lunch as a member of her monthly 'lunch bunch.' She loved her family and never missed sending loved ones a birthday, anniversary or holiday card. She was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching many sports including the Tigers, Lions and Michigan State Spartans.

She lived her life on her terms and cultivated many friendships and connections. She was blessed to be healthy, strong and independent throughout her life. Carol was proud of her family and kept many records, photos, books and antiques from her family history and her ancestors. She was well liked and always willing to volunteer and lend a hand to those in need. We will miss her strong will, determined attitude and never wavering loyalty. Her friends would often refer to her as "the boss." Her great life, smile, dedication and love will always be remembered and she will continue to inspire those who knew her.
