Carol Jean Collins, age 92, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025, at Burcham Hills in East
Lansing, Michigan.

Carol was born June 4, 1932, in Detroit, Michigan, to Olberg and Emma Hagen.

Carol attended Cooley High School in Detroit, Michigan. She worked as a school secretary in the Detroit school system for many years.

She married Charles (Chuck) Collins on October 5, 1957 at St Olaf Lutheran Church in Detroit.

They moved to Southfield in 1961 and Carol chose to stay home to raise her children for many years. Once the children were older she was a library worker for Berkley Library and an office manager for the Americana Plaza office building.

While they lived in Southfield the family attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Royal Oak. Carol was involved with the church, singing in the church choir and was a member of the Prayer Chain.

The family had many happy years together in Southfield, Michigan.

When Carol and Chuck moved to Traverse City in 1992 they realized a dream that they had looked forward to for many years. While they were there they attended Bethlehem Lutheran Church. They made many friends at the church and in their neighborhood. They enjoyed the Cherry Festival and watching the Blue Angels air shows together.

In her free time Carol would often knit hats for babies in the NICU and donated them to hospitals. She also had a love for flower and vegetable gardening and loved her apple trees. Carol also liked to share her plants with family, a tradition that began with her father Olberg.

Carol moved to St Johns in 2017 to be closer to family. She lived in an independent senior living apartment for a few years before moving to the Burcham Hills Retirement community in 2019.

She is preceded in death by husband, Chuck, who passed away on June 2, 2011. Carol is survived by Daughter, Lori Biondo, Children Ashley Biondo and Mckenzie Biondo; Son, Mark Collins (Teresa), Children Ben (Tyler) Collins-Linton, Luke Collins (fiancée Laura Rickle), Madi Collins; Son, Dave Collins (Bridget), Children Blake Rose, Avyri Rose, Jonathan Collins, Emmi Collins.

Carol was a dear sister to the late Norma (the late Adolph) Neudeck, the late Carl (Donna) Hagen, the late Earl (Joanne) Hagen, and Ole (Marie) Hagen.

Carol's family will receive guests on Friday, May 23, 3-8 pm, at the funeral home, where a funeral service will be held Saturday, May 24 at 11 am.

Immediately following the service a funeral procession will take Carol to her final resting place, Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.
