Bonnie Jean
Furnish
Apr 13, 1940 — Dec 5, 2024
West Bloomfield
Bonnie Jean Furnish, age 84, passed away unexpectedly at home, Thursday, December 5, 2024.
Bonnie was born in Royal Oak, MI, April 13, 1940, the daughter of the late Carrie and Malcolm Tribble.
Bonnie started her federal career first working with the Department of Defense, then took a break to have four children, returning back to the Federal sector and eventually retiring from the Federal Aviation Administration with 24 years of Federal service in 1994.
When Bonnie got her first job, she needed to borrow cars from her brothers to get to work. One of Bonnie's brothers had a 1955 Ford that he fixed up and was going to sell. Bonnie wanted that car so her Daddy bought it for her and Bonnie had to make payments on it. She made every payment on time. When the last payment came due, she went to hand it to her Daddy, but he said no, keep it, I'm proud of you.
Once she owned the car it became different - it was hers and brought out her inner competitor. She was challenged one day by some guy on Woodward Avenue to a drag race. Being fearless, she accepted the challenge and beat him. She had a lot of fun racing that car from time to time and that competitive spirit remained with her throughout her life.
Bonnie looked forward to the springtime where she could get outside to start planting flowers and growing vegetables/fruits around her beautiful West Bloomfield home where she lived since 1967. Neighbors would stop by to compliment her beautiful work. Her love for plants and flowers was evident in her most amazing, landscaped yard.
She also enjoyed the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas, where she would create winter scenes on her mantel and bedrooms that would fill her home with joy and happiness.
As in her younger years, Bonnie loved to compete and always enjoyed playing croquet or UNO when we would get together for family parties. Normally she was a very classy woman, except when she challenged her family to one of these games. She then transformed into a ruthless competitor with a foul mouth, and we loved her for it. Nobody had more fun than Bonnie and her laughter was contagious. She loved to host these parties (and drink Moscato wine 😉) and loved being with her family, always.
Traveling was another activity that gave Bonnie great joy and she went on many short trips with her daughters, Michelle and Tania, son-in-law, Dave, and grandson, Blake. From Mackinac Island, Ludington, Pentwater, Oscoda, to Cedar Point and trips to the Kalahari water park, there was no place she didn't enjoy traveling to with her family. She never slowed down and was always ready to explore new places with us, creating wonderful memories we will cherish forever.
Another of Bonnie's loves was shopping. You could expect to be in the store for hours as she never met a stranger and could talk to anyone about anything. In fact, it would take her hours to grocery shop because she would start conversations with everyone.
She loved the yearly cider mill trips with her Grandson Blake and looked forward to her beautiful birthday bouquet from him. The bond with her Grandson was strong and everlasting. She couldn't love him any deeper. She was there when Blake was born and stayed close always. She was so proud of him and their closeness.
Bonnie had a great love for animals, having cared for many cats and dogs in her beautiful life and always helping stray animals when faced with one in need.
She especially loved her two Collies, Cody and Shane.
You couldn't find a more incredible human being than Bonnie. She deeply loved her parents and was a Daddy's girl, faithfully caring for both until their end on this heavenly earth. She would create beautiful floral arrangements for her parents' gravesite every year to honor them.
She was the most nurturing, strong and supportive woman who could fix any situation and make it all better.
Bonnie had a big personality with the healing touch with every hug. Extraordinary in every way! Her children were truly blessed to have such a fantastic mother!
Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Furnish. She is the loving mother of Mark Kaznecki, Grant Kaznecki, Michelle Zucchetto (David), Tania McClelland (William) and stepmother of Cindy Gadbois (Jerry); beloved grandmother of Blake McClelland and Jacob Kaznecki; dearest sister of Gerald Tribble (Nancy), the late David Tribble (the late Sandy) and Brenda Edwards (James). She also leaves behind cousins, nieces and nephews whom she cared deeply for and kept in close contact with all of them. Sadly, Bonnie is also preceded in death by her former husband and father of her children, Lawrence Kaznecki.
