Obituary

Beverly Joan Dean was born in Detroit as the middle child of Nancy and Richard Dean on September 12, 1931.  She attended Cooley High School in Detroit and so did Alan Fletcher.  They became good buddies but after graduation their relationship changed.  In 1952, more than 71 years ago, they were married.

Bev's faith and family were the focus of her life.  She was a member of Nardin Park for more than 50 years.  Bev was a long-time member of the church choir, served as co-chair of the Finance Committee and was a member of the Staff Parish, Music and Audit Committees.  She was active in United Methodist Women and for several years volunteered her skills in the church office.  Bev was involved in philanthropic organizations and enjoyed her PEO sisterhood.

Bev's devotion to family was total and complete; she 'set the bar' with her dedication. There was no distance too far nor effort too difficult to keep her from events involving her kids and grandkids and, to the extent able, her great grands.  When she was overseas, she read to her grandchildren creating audio books long before they were available electronically.

Bev has been the much beloved 'Mimi' to her family, planning and organizing and hosting countless family gatherings, birthdays, and holidays in their home and up north chalet. She will be sorely missed by all who loved her.

Bev is survived by her loving husband, Alan Fletcher; beloved daughters, Pam (Mark) Alder, Sherry (John) Allen, and Lauren (John) King; adored grandchildren, Ryan, Wesley and Trevor Alder, Fletcher (Rachel) Kundtz, Brittany (Andy) Klenke, and Abbey (Josh) Griffin; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin, William, Penelope, and Hayden.  She is preceded in death by her siblings, Jim Dean and Lynn Nordmark.

A funeral will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, 12 pm (visitation beginning at 11 am) at Nardin Park UMC, 29887 W. Eleven Mile Rd., Farmington Hills, MI.
