Betty E. Tarapchak, age 102, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024.

Betty was born March 21, 1921, in Detroit, the daughter of Ivan and Emily (Asbury) Pratt. Emily passed away from smallpox when Betty was just five months old. This left Ivan to raise Betty and her three brothers, all under the age of six, on his own. Ivan taught his children the values of hard work, eating well, and leading a clean life. These values definitely contributed to Betty's longevity. She lived in various towns and cities in Southeastern Michigan her entire 102 years.

Betty married Peter Tarapchak, Jr. on October 27, 1951, and he preceded her in death on April 18, 2004.

Betty was the loving mother of Emily Trapchak, Mark (Heather) Trapchak, and the late Wesley (Barbara) Trapchak; cherished grandmother of Tony (Michelle) Trapchak, Wesley (Bebe) Trapchak, Tina Trapchak (Brad McCreery), Samuel Trapchak, and Jean Trapchak; six great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, 11;00 am, at Clarenceville United Methodist Church, 20300 Middlebelt Road, Livonia. Lunch to follow. All are welcome.

Because of Betty's passion for animals, especially dogs, memorial tributes are suggested to the Michigan Humane Society.
